《awaiting awakening》

This work explores the connection between “food” and “reading” by using the look of pulp takeout containers to mimic products commonly found in convenience stores. The bread-like pages evoke the act of “eating” as viewers flip through the book. A rotating dial made from a coffee cup lid transforms reading from a simple act of comprehension into a form of consumption and depletion. Portraying a state of “waiting to be eaten (read),” the work reflects the moment when goods are displayed, chosen, and taken in convenience store culture, while turning the book—usually a symbol of knowledge—into a consumable everyday object.
