《Grandma’s Bathtub》
Centered on everyday domestic objects, this work explores the themes of passing time, family memory, and the emotional value embedded in objects, exemplified by a tiled bathtub. Once merely a common household fixture, the bathtub now symbolizes family memory, with its worn tiles and residual traces reflecting the aging process, much like the marks on the artist’s grandmother. By focusing on this familiar object, the work captures fleeting snippets of life that seem ordinary yet hold irreplaceable significance.

About the Artist
Chia Hsin Yu

Born in Taipei in 1994, Chia Hsin Yu earned her BA from London College of Fashion and her MA from the Royal College of Art in the UK. Her work centers on the hand-driven flat-knitting machine. By carefully controlling each stitch and line, she transforms personal insights into textile textures. Committed to the contemporary evolution of the knitting craft, she pushes this traditional craft beyond clothing, turning it into an expressive art form that conveys emotion and warmth.
